What is the
WWOZ VIP Tent?

"To me the hospitality area is an oasis in the middle of Jazz Fest.
It is where we do our broadcast, so there are always musicians and crafts people coming by.
It's an area where people are great music fans and also fans of WWOZ, so you find great folks and have some wonderful conversations.
During Jazz Fest it is my home; I don't know what I would do without it. I spend most of my time there whether I am broadcasting or not."

A Brass Pass Story

"I have friends who have come to every Jazz Fest. They drive down from Tuscaloosa every year and spend two weeks enjoying all that the city offers. After I started doing radio for WWOZ, I told them about the Brass Pass and how much I enjoyed having one and how I feel it made Jazz Fest much more enjoyable.
When I started telling them about the fans, the cool water, the fresh fruit and a comfortable place to sit, I think it started to make them rethink the way they'd been doing Fest all these years. Well, lo and behold, the next year they bought Brass Passes during my show, and I was anxious to see what they thought once that year's Jazz Fest began.
I think it was the first day, I caught them in the hospitality area and there they sat with huge bowls of strawberries and melons in front of them and with the biggest smiles I'd seen all that day. I knew we had 'em, and since that Fest they are now Brass Pass regulars and would not do it any other way."
