You Lie!

During the last week's joint session of Congress, Congressman Joe Wilson heckled President Obama with, "You Lie."   Well Seeker, since radio has always been the preferred Petri Dish for conspiracy theories, I now  announce Joe Wilson is actually Tattoo from The Love Boat.

I HAVE AUDIO EVIDENCE!

A recording of Tattoo also shouting "You lie" that sounds exactly like Joe Wilson!  When you hear it you will truly become a believer!  As Tom Waits and our friends at Firesign Theatre said, "There is a seeker born every minute (you just happened to be coming around at the right time)."

Ah, conspiracy land.  A place of unlimited humor.

The interstitials for this show are particularly good including the great Jack Nicholson quote from A Few Good Men "You can't handle the truth" and the Firesign Theatre's many cuts from "Everything You Know is Wrong."

Playlist Tracks

Sugar Boy Crawford
"She's Got a Wobble"
Spirit of New Orleans
Starting off with a difficult-to-announce set of music about wiggling women.
Redd Foxx
"Let's Wiggle a Little Woogie"
Yes that Redd Foxx a.k.a. Fred Sanford. We used to catch his show at that battered casino, The Flamingo for a couple bucks a drink minimum. He was way too big for the place just as he was too big for the many limitations of being a singer. Really had he worked in a less racist time he would have had much more monetary and artistic success. His ability far exceeded every role. Try this link for a documentary about Redd
Stick McGee
"Wiggle Waggle Woggle Woo"
Johnny and Shuggie Otis
"Country Girl"
Gotta be jelly, jam don't move like that.

Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry
"Bo's Beat"
Doing these shows force an overexposure to musicians but it never seems to affect Bo Diddley's artistry. I tend to like him more and more. (I wish I could capture this quality in myself. After all these years I'm getting really sick of my schtick.)
Eddie Bo
"Walk That Walk"
More Bo

Joe Liggins and His Honeydrippers
"The Honeydripper"
Irma Thomas
"I Count the Tears"
After The Rain
One of the great, but subtle, talents of Irma's musicianship is her ability to match her maturing voice to complimentary song selections and music. Songs like I Count the Tears, I'm Your Puppet and so many of her recent collections work as well as her early classic recordings. Here Irma is working off the low notes of a rich bass line and on I'm Your Puppet she works the high notes of that familiar melody. Look, it isn't as tough to channel the natural singing ability of a 17 year old voice but Irma is far removed from the American Idol years and credit her (and her musicians and producers) for understanding and nurturing the artistry of a mature voice.
Barbara Lynn
"Hello Stranger"
Barbara singing "You'll Lose A Good Thing" with that same charismatic, subtle stage presence that had me screaming like a 14 year old girl at Shea Stadium during the 2005 Ponderosa Stomp.
Betty Taylor
"I'm Goin Home"
New Orleans Popeye Party
The dj's version of the Jackson's "Never Can Say Goodbye," six songs and interstitials riffing off the goodbye theme including two knockoffs on the Bobby Charles hit, See You Later Alligator.

Wilbert Harrison
"Goodbye Kansas City"
Loving that Jimmy Spruill guitar work. Link is to a song I've gotta find.
