Twit er Talk
Trissel, trassel, trussel, trome... How does a microphone act as a magic wand that converts a human into a twit. Happens to me every Saturday night but you would think professional politicians would have a Hogwarts-style defense. A twit force field. Maybe a Tamil-twit inoculation.
Tonight's sound bites are primarily weird sound bites from politicians. Every quote presented out of context (because nobody speaks between post-war R&B songs looted from my neighbors after Katrina). Politicians who meant to inspire but just sound wacky. Definitely radio for the post-Culture Vulture music crowd.

Playlist Tracks
Steve Gibson and the Red Caps "Boogie Woogie on a Saturday Night" On a show that relies on too much novelty, gotta change up the introduction every week. Good thing it isn't a Tuesday night show because there are plenty of songs about Saturday night. |
Dr. John "Touro Infirmary" If only Charity Hospital was called and infirmary it would have replace "St. James" in popularity. |
Four Jokers "Transfusion" Songs all inspired by Earl Long's declarations that Charity Hospital is the finest hospital in the world. Too bad it's closed. |
Bo Diddley "Pills" |
Macy Skipper "Bop Pills" |
Frantic Flintstones "Poppin the Pills" |
Dorothy Ellis "Drill Baby Drill" Between Sarah Palin's Governor gig and her baton days, she sang under the name Dorothy Ellis. Had she a larger portfolio of lyrics she might have pursued this career. |
Bull Moose Jackson "Bow Legged Woman" |
Del-Tones "Bow Legged Annie" |
Little Richard "Keep A' Knockin" A set of music about negotiating the front door - yours, mine, and someone else's front door. In the Quarter I never answer the front door. Took out the door bell years ago and ignore the knocking. If they don't have my cell number I'm not answering the door. Too many unpleasant surprises over the years - ranging from cops looking for a shake down to goof balls so high they thought they were home. |
Stuff Smith "Knock, Knock" Oynx Club Boys |
Eldorados "Bim, Bam Boom" |
Jeannie and her Boyfriends "It's Me Knockin" |
Carol Fran "Knock, Knock" |
Lazy Lester "I Hear You Knockin" |
Gene Vincent and the Blue Flames "Well I Knocked and I Knocked" |
Jimmy and Johnny "I Can't Find the Door Knob" A song that perfectly describe that New Orleans situation that comes after we properly take a cab home from the bar then realize we're too drunk to operate the front door. |
Jerry McClain "My Next Door Neighbor" |
Larry Dale "Let the Doorbell Ring" |
Tiny Grimes "Call of the Wild" |
TV Slim "Flat Foot Sam" |
Larry Williams "Dummy" |
Lloyd Price "I'm Glad, Glad" |
Larry Williams "Peaches and Cream" |
Larry Williams "Hey Now, Hey Now" |
Alvin Red Tyler "Gee Baby" |
Amos Milburn "Chicken Shack Boogie" |
Richard Barry "Angle of my Life" |
Eddie Bo as Little Bo "So Glad" |
Bobby Mitchell "Sister Lucy" |
Roy Brown "Let the Four Winds Blow" |
Annie Laurie "It Hurts to Be In Love" |
Clarence Garlow "Bon Ton Roule" |
Clarence Garlow "New Bon Ton Roule" Such a perfect song that a follow up makes sense but why didn't Garlow just make this into a 20 minute song. A Louisiana version of In A Gadda Da Vida. |
Clarence Garlow "Crawfishin" Cosimo Matassa Story |
Bobby Charles "Watch It Sprocket" |
Hawks "Ever Since You've Been Gone" |
Blue Lu Barker "Here's A Little Girl From Jacksonville" |
Nellie Lutcher "Lake Charles Boogie" |
Clarence Frogman Henry "Standing in the Need of Love" |
Eddie Bo "Check Your Bucket" |
Earl King "Love Rent" King of New Orleans |
Tami Lynn "One Night of Sin" Love Is Here and Now |
Thurston Harris "Little Bitty Pretty One" Earl Palmer - Worlds Greatest Rock and Roll Drummer |
Shirley and Lee "Flirt" Aladdin 3390 |
Eddie Bo "Hook and Sling" |
Alvin Robinson "I'm Leaving You Today" |
Senator Jones "Boston Fleet" |
Brenda Lee "Bigalow 6-200" Blue Cat Rockabilly |
Bobby Mitchell "Nothing As Sweet As You" |
The Spiders "Sukey, Sukey, Sukey" Imperial Sessions |
Larry Williams "She Said Yeah" |
Eddie Reynolds "What Was It" After playing Ronald Reagan's quote about world peace coming after an attack from outer space I had to depart from the Rene Hall set of music with Eddie Reynolds song about finding a satellite on the ground. Reynolds wonders it a purple monster is about to jump out and .... but as he opens the lid he finds a black and brown dog. Goofy! As goofy and Reagan's quote. |
Rene Hall "The Untouchables" Rene with his signature rich, multi-dimensional textured arrangement on this and the next song |
Rene Hall "Thunderbird" |
Larry Williams "Bad Boy" Rene on guitar |
Ritchie Valens "La Bamba" Rene Hall on guitar, Earl Palmer on drums and the great Carol Kaye creating on of the most famous bass lines. A group Rene often played and arranged with. |
Chan Romero "Hippy Hippy Shake" Same band as above as they hoped Chan - a Valen's sound alike - could recreate the magic and the sales. |
Chris Kenner "Sick and Tired" |
Subdudes "Poor Man's Paradise" |
