11:00 a.m. with Teddy Cross & Company singing a patriotic gospel tribute to Louis Armstrong, who liked to celebrate the Fourth of July as his birthday at Washington Artillery Park
And the music and fun continues throughout the French Market.
· 11:30 a.m. a trumpet player will lead the gospel choir, stilt walkers dressed as Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty, and 20 Abraham Lincolns (in honor of Lincoln's 200th birthday this year) in a second line to Dutch Alley.
· 11:45 a.m. Students from the New Orleans Jazz National Historic Park Music of All Ages brass band class and the Tremé Brass Band will join the tribute with a “When the Saints Come Marching In” jam.
· 12:00 p.m. Daddy-O Brothers Band featuring Lisa Lee will perform at Dutch Alley performance pavilion.
· 1:00 p.m. Chuck Perkins and Voices of the Big Easy will present their Love Song to New Orleans.
· 2:00 p.m. A larger-than- life Declaration Of Independence will be unfurled for a “citizens’ signing” in Dutch Alley.
· 2:30-3:00 p.m. watermelon tastings will be served free at the Flea Market by French Market Produce
· Take a break from the heat at the New Orleans Jazz National Historic Park Visitor Center and watch the 1957 film “Satchmo” at 3:00 p.m.
· 3:00 p.m. Tulane & the 3rd Eye Production Band will perform at Dutch Alley Performance Pavilion.
· 5:30– 6:30 p.m. Chuck Perkins and Voices of the Big Easy will present their Love Song to New Orleans at Dutch Alley performance pavilion.
· 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Preservation Hall Star Band featuring Carl LeBlanc. Their sounds of classical jazz and jazz interpretations of American classics will lead us into the Dueling Barges Fireworks, New Orleans style!
